How to make a QR code for text
- Type or paste your text.
- Style the code if you like.
- Download it and test it with your phone before printing.
Tips for a code that scans every time
- Keep it short: a few sentences scan easily. Long text makes a dense code that has to be printed larger.
- Any language works, including Hindi, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese and emoji.
- Text can’t be tapped like a link. To open a website, use the Link type so phones open it directly.
Questions and answers
How much text fits in a QR code?
At the default setting, up to about 2,300 basic Latin characters – fewer for other scripts, and fewer when you add a logo. For easy scanning, stay under about 300 characters.
Does the person need internet to read it?
No. The text is inside the code, so it shows up even without a connection.
Can I use it for WiFi details or contact details?
You can, but the WiFi and Contact card types work better: phones offer to join the network or save the contact automatically.
