How it works
- Choose the barcode type – EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products, Code 128 for labels and inventory.
- Enter the number or text. For retail barcodes we calculate the check digit for you.
- Adjust the size and text, then download PNG or SVG and test it with a scanner.
Tips
- Use SVG for printing: it stays sharp at any size.
- Keep dark bars on a white background and leave white space on both sides.
- Don’t print retail barcodes too small: about 37 × 26 mm (1.47 × 1.02 in) is the standard size for EAN-13.
- Test with the scanner your shop or warehouse uses before printing a large batch.
Questions and answers
Which barcode should I use?
For products sold in shops, use EAN-13 (worldwide) or UPC-A (USA and Canada) with numbers from GS1. For your own labels, inventory, tickets and shipping, Code 128 is the most flexible choice.
Do I need to buy barcode numbers?
To sell through retailers, usually yes – most require GS1-registered numbers so your product is unique worldwide. For internal use such as stock, assets or tickets, you can use any numbers you like.
What is a check digit?
The last digit of EAN and UPC barcodes is calculated from the others so scanners can spot mistakes. Enter the number without it and we add it for you.
Can I make QR codes here too?
