QR code scanner
Scan a QR code with your camera, or from a photo or screenshot. See exactly what’s inside – and whether a link looks safe – before you open anything. Nothing is uploaded.
Loading the QR code scanner…
- No app needed
- Works with screenshots
- Safety checks
- Nothing uploaded
How it works
- Tap “Start camera” and point it at the code – or drop an image, choose a file or paste a screenshot.
- Read what the code contains: a link, WiFi details, a contact, an event and more.
- Open the link, copy the WiFi password or save the contact – only when you choose to.
Tips
- Check the website name before opening a link. Scammers stick fake QR codes on parking meters, posters and parcels.
- Be careful with short links (such as bit.ly): they hide where they lead.
- Never pay or log in through a QR code you didn’t expect. Go to the company’s website or app yourself.
- If a photo is blurry, crop it around the code and try again.
Questions and answers
Is it safe to scan QR codes here?
The scanner only reads the code and shows you what is inside. Nothing opens until you choose to, and we flag warning signs such as short links and unencrypted http:// links.
Are my images or camera uploaded?
No. Images and camera frames are processed on your device and never leave it.
Why doesn’t the camera start?
Your browser needs permission to use the camera, and the page must be loaded over https. You can always scan an image or screenshot instead.
Can it scan a QR code from a screenshot?
Yes. Take a screenshot, then paste it here (Ctrl+V or ⌘V) or choose the file.
